Dermal Fillers

Restylane

FAMILY OF RESTYLANE FILLERS

Many of us start to see the first small volume loss, wrinkles, fine lines, and creases in our late twenties and early thirties. As they grow and become more noticeable, we often turn first to over-the-counter skin products or makeup. Unfortunately, those only help some of those problems, and for a limited time, because they don't actually stop the volume loss, wrinkles, lines, and creases from forming.

Restylane is a formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically created to act like your body's own naturally produced hyaluronic acid. It helps to visibly correct facial wrinkles, folds, and volume loss by adding volume beneath the skin where it was lost. Restylane not only reduces the visibility of wrinkles, folds, creases and lines, it also helps to prevent them from deepening.

In a clinical study of subjects treated with Restylane, evaluators reported still seeing improvement in 95% of subjects 18 months after initial injection.

What Can I Expect During a Restylane Treatment?

Receiving a Restylane injection begins with a consultation. At your consultation, you'll be able to discuss your goals and decide with Practitioner Edwards on the best Restylane option that works for you. The practitioner may then cleanse your face before guiding you through the actual injections, where a small needle is used to place the Restylane just under the skin. Most patients describe feeling only a slight pinch, though a topical anesthetic can also be used to reduce discomfort.

What About After?

There is no downtime for the procedure, though if you are planning to return to work, there may be some amount of mild swelling on the first day, you'll receive aftercare instructions to help prevent and/or reduce any mild swelling or bruising. Though results may seem immediate, the area after treatment is often at least slightly swollen, so we recommend waiting a week to confirm the final results.

Restylane is a family of products, each one designed to provide a specific benefit depending on your needs and goals. Discover more about each Restylane option below:

RESTYLANE L

In 2005, Restylane L became the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler for aesthetic purposes, making it the very first modern filler on the market. It still maintains its position as one of the most flexible and effective filler options, working almost everywhere for moderate volume loss, except the brow. Restylane L is especially effective for moderate volume loss in the regions of the nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and moderately effective in the tear troughs and upper cheeks for mild volume loss. It's FDA-approved for 6 months, though patients commonly report Restylane L maintaining effectiveness for up to nine months. The procedure to receive Restylane L takes around 60 minutes, but it can be longer if you're receiving multiple syringes.

It does come with a pain-relieving additive, lidocaine, to help with any discomfort. However, we also offer additional, stronger pain relieving methods such as dental blocks (especially for lips) and numbing cream placed topically, please make sure to mention any concerns about discomfort at your consultation. Most patients experience some amount of swelling for at least two to three days after their treatment, and there is the potential for bruising. We offer complimentary Arnica and reusable ice packs to aid in the healing process.

RESTYLANE LYFT

Over time, the natural fat that surrounds the cheeks begins to deteriorate, resulting in sagging skin, more prominent wrinkles, and a reduction of volume. Restylane Lyft is used to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the face and was designed to add fullness to the cheeks and mid-face area for a more natural-looking, youthful appearance. It's currently the only FDA-approved filler for lifting the cheeks and adding volume to correct and smooth nasolabial folds, though it can also be used to soften tear troughs and reduce the “tired look” from lost volume in the framing of the face.

The procedure for Restylane Lyft takes around 60 minutes, though it can take longer if there are multiple syringes. Lyft comes with a pain-relieving additive, lidocaine, to help with any discomfort; however, we also offer additional, stronger pain-relieving methods such as dental blocks or topical numbing cream. Please make sure to mention any concerns about discomfort at your consultation. Most patients experience some amount of swelling for at least two to three days after their treatment, and there is the potential for bruising. We offer complimentary Arnica and reusable ice packs to aid in the healing process.

RESTYLANE SILK

We don't imagine our lips looking older, but as we age, our lips and the lines around the mouth show signs of aging. This includes lip thinning, lost shape, and an increase in vertical lines above the lip. Restylane Silk was designed to be used around the mouth with smaller, smoother hyaluronic acid particles in order to keep a natural look in treated areas. It works with fine lines, etched lines around the mouth and smile lines, and is great for those who want to add a little volume to the lips without it looking like they have had “work done.”

The procedure for Restylane Silk takes around 60 minutes, though it can take longer if there are multiple syringes. Silk comes with a pain-relieving additive, lidocaine, to help with any discomfort; however, we also offer additional, stronger pain-relieving methods such as dental blocks or topical numbing cream. Please make sure to mention any concerns about discomfort at your consultation. As the most hydrophilic of the Restylane family of fillers, Silk may result in slightly more swelling than other Restylane fillers. Most patients experience some amount of swelling for at least three to four days after their treatment, and there is the potential for bruising. We offer complimentary Arnica and reusable ice packs to aid in the healing process.

RESTYLANE REFYNE & DEFYNE

Nasolabial folds, the creases that run from your nose toward the corners of your mouth, as well as marionette lines, the ones that run from the corners of your mouth toward the chin, appear more noticeable as we age past our thirties and into our forties. Both Restylane Refyne and Defyne were specifically designed to help correct nasolabial folds and marionette lines while keeping a natural look on your face. The unique cross-linking of the gel in Restylane Refyne and Defyne was formulated to support natural expression, so you can maintain natural movement when smiling, frowning, or anything else. Similar to the way memory foam on your mattress works, the cross-linking gel in Refyne and Defyne stretches with your face and then bounces back when your face is relaxed. While both perform similarly and are made with the same cross-hatching technology, Defyne is used to treat deeper lines and folds than Refyne.

The procedure for either Restylane Refyne or Defyne takes around 60 minutes, though it can take longer if there are multiple syringes. Refyne and Defyne come with a pain-relieving additive, lidocaine, to help with any discomfort; however, we also offer additional, stronger pain-relieving methods, such as dental blocks or topical numbing cream. Please make sure to mention any concerns about discomfort at your consultation. Most patients experience some amount of swelling for at least two to three days after their treatment, and there is the potential for bruising. We offer complimentary Arnica and reusable ice packs to aid in the healing process.

JUVEDERM

FAMILY OF JUVEDERM FILLERS

Part of the way we assess age is by the facial lines and skin laxity which worsen as we get older. It's natural for our skin to loose volume and become lax, and for folds and lines to deepen over time. Volume loss around the temples and the cheeks cause our faces to look more hollow, and less rested. One of the most powerful non-surgical tools for combating these signs of aging is the family of Juvederm fillers.

Hyaluronic acid naturally occurs all over the body which helps deliver nutrients to the skin, helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume. Juvederm is a collection of specially formulated hyaluronic acid gels which were each made to treat a different area of the face. They were created to provide long lasting, exceptional corrections to facial wrinkles, folds, and volume loss.

Juvederm is the #1 selling collection of hyaluronic acid fillers in the US.

Before any procedure begins, the practitioner may cleanse your face in order to ensure safety as well as best results. The injections themselves are performed with a very small needle, which is placed under the skin for a short series of injections. Most patients describe feeling only a slight pinch, though a topical anesthetic can also be used to reduce discomfort.

What About After?

There is no downtime with the use of Juvederm, although you should be aware that if you're planning on returning to work there may be some amount of mild swelling in the first day.

Juvederm is a family of products, each one designed to provide a specific benefit depending on your needs and goals, discover more about each Juvederm option below:

JUVEDERM XC & XC Plus

Over time, your skin loses elasticity, which contributes to moderate to severe nasolabial folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Juvederm XC adds volume to smooth these lines and folds, to help give you the subtle, long-lasting results you want with great versatility. XC can be used to add volume to lips, correct volume loss in the nasolabial folds, and soften marionette lines. It has the smallest molecule of all the Juvederm products and provides a softer, more natural look to the face and lips. Juvederm XC Plus has all the benefits of Juvederm XC but is used for patients with more severe volume loss. Where Juvederm XC is used for mild to moderate volume loss, XC Plus is for moderate to severe volume loss. Both XC and XC Plus are FDA-approved to last up to a year.

The procedure for Juvederm XC or XC Plus takes around 60 minutes, though it can take longer if there are multiple syringes. Both XC and XC Plus come with a pain-relieving additive, lidocaine, to help with any discomfort; however, we also offer additional, stronger pain-relieving methods such as dental blocks or topical numbing cream. Please make sure to mention any concerns about discomfort at your consultation. Most patients experience some amount of swelling for at least two to three days after their treatment, and there is the potential for bruising. We offer complimentary Arnica and reusable ice packs to aid in the healing process.

JUVEDERM VOLLURE

Lines and wrinkles are the most common concerns when it comes to signs of aging, likely because they're often the first ones we notice. Juvederm Vollure helps to reduce that concern by softening moderate to severe parentheses lines and wrinkles. Vollure works by adding volume to the lines and wrinkles around your nose and mouth to produce subtle and long-lasting results for up to 18 months. It's a particularly effective filler for the below cheekbones because it fills lines and wrinkles without adding a lot of volume. Vollure is often described as used for fine-tuning the lines and wrinkles in the face, and works like a thin “sheet” to help smooth the skin.

The procedure for Juvederm Vollure takes around 60 minutes, though it can take longer if there are multiple syringes. Vollure comes with a pain-relieving additive, lidocaine, to help with any discomfort; however, we also offer additional, stronger pain-relieving methods such as dental blocks or topical numbing cream. Please make sure to mention any concerns about discomfort at your consultation. Most patients experience some amount of swelling for at least two to three days after their treatment, and there is the potential for bruising. We offer complimentary Arnica and reusable ice packs to aid in the healing process.

JUVEDERM VOLBELLA

Many people have naturally thin lips and just want to achieve a fuller appearance. Other people have noticed their lips thinning over time and want a fuller, more youthful look. Some want to remove the vertical lines appearing around their mouth. Whatever your needs are, when it comes to your lips, Juvederm Volbella was formulated to help you. Its stellar performance treating areas around the mouth makes it perfect for the etched, vertical lines around the mouth, often dubbed “smoker lines” or “straw lines.” Volbella is subtle and does not add a significant amount of volume, which makes it a perfect filler for fine lines and lip augmentation.

The procedure for Juvederm Volbella takes around 60 minutes, though it can take longer if there are multiple syringes. Volbella comes with a pain-relieving additive, lidocaine, to help with any discomfort; however, we also offer additional, stronger pain-relieving methods such as dental blocks or topical numbing cream. Please make sure to mention any concerns about discomfort at your consultation. Most patients experience some amount of swelling for at least two to three days after their treatment, and there is the potential for bruising. We offer complimentary Arnica and reusable ice packs to aid in the healing process.

JUVEDERM VOLUMA

Wrinkles and lines aren’t the only signs of aging; over time, the cheeks also flatten, and the skin may even begin to sag. This is caused by a natural loss of volume in the cheek area, or what is also called age-related mid-face volume loss. Juvederm Voluma was designed to add volume to lift and contour the cheek area, providing a rounder, fuller look to the face. Voluma naturally helps lift the cheek to reduce skin laxity, which causes jowls. It lifts the top of the cheek area up into a more youthful, vibrant state. Juvederm Voluma is FDA-approved to provide benefits for up to 2 years.

The procedure for Juvederm Voluma takes around 60 minutes, though it can take longer if there are multiple syringes. Voluma comes with a pain-relieving additive, lidocaine, to help with any discomfort; however, we also offer additional, stronger pain-relieving methods such as dental blocks or topical numbing cream. Please make sure to mention any concerns about discomfort at your consultation. Most patients experience some amount of swelling for at least two to three days after their treatment, and there is the potential for bruising. We offer complimentary Arnica and reusable ice packs to aid in the healing process.

REVANESSE VERSA

Like almost all dermal fillers, Revanesse Versa is made of the naturally occurring substance hyaluronic acid. Like almost all dermal fillers, Revanesse Versa can correct moderate to severe wrinkles and folds in the skin; however, that's where the comparisons end. Revanesse Versa is based on a proprietary formula and a unique technology that allowed it to be engineered to have maximum smoothness under the skin while also providing significant volume.

Revanesse Versa is a new Hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler that is known for its specially engineered particle shape and great versatility. By building the particles inside Versa to be spherical, the engineers gave it a few special properties because the spherical shape makes Versa easier for the body to work with and more resistant to being broken down. What does that mean to you? It means Versa lasts longer, produces less swelling and gives a youthful, smooth appearance.

Revaness Versa is a multipurpose dermal filler that can be used in the cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and in the lips for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds in the skin.

In a recent study, Versa was shown to have a 24% less chance of causing swelling compared with another popular dermal filler.

Receiving Revanesse Versa begins with a consultation, where you'll be able to discuss your goals and decide with Practitioner Edwards on the best treatment plan that works for you. The practitioner may then cleanse your face before the treatment, during which a small needle is inserted under the skin to inject the Versa. Most patients describe feeling only a slight pinch, though a topical anesthetic can also be used to reduce discomfort.

The procedure for Revanesse Versa takes around 60 minutes, though it can take longer if there are multiple syringes. Versa comes with a pain-relieving additive, lidocaine, to help with any discomfort; however, we also offer additional, stronger pain-relieving methods such as dental blocks or topical numbing cream. Please make sure to mention any concerns about discomfort at your consultation. Most patients experience some amount of swelling for at least two to three days after their treatment, and there is the potential for bruising. We offer complimentary Arnica and reusable ice packs to aid in the healing process.
